Who comes after the soul pet?

Ben and I are talking about getting a dog. In a world with nothing else in it, we would wait at least six months to even consider getting a dog. We would mourn what was an incredibly special dog for a mandatory minimum to just ensure the wounds were properly aired out. But there are other things in the world, namely kittens and a fetus.
