I lost my soulmate cat, Getty, to FIP in 2014. There was nothing we could do at that time, and it was absolutely wretched and heartbreaking. I am so glad there is a chance at survival and recovery now, and that you are grabbing for it. Wishing you all the luck in the world. Viva Snoots!
...the stranger in the parking lot sends love and light to you, Snoots, and your amazing little family. You got this. I am here to watch the miracle unfold.
This piece made me cry - I feel your love and care for yourself - but mostly for your fur babies. Let me know if you need some help - I'm already a subscriber. I will send Reiki to Snoots and hope you get the needed meds.
I lost my kitten, Mozart, to FIP eight years ago. He was my gift to me and my kids, to get through a horrible divorce, and I still think of him all the time. He was a tuxedo cat too, like Snoots. All the best to Snoots and may he continue to beat this terrible disease.
Wow, the way you write about your love for Snoots made me cry. I love my own kitties so much, and to see that level of love described so beautifully in this essay was beyond touching. I'm wishing Snoots the very best in his recovery. It's heartbreaking that he can't understand why you're injecting him with all this medicine, but I'm so glad he has a chance at beating this thing. <3
A year or so ago, my sis and her husband adopted a “runt of the litter” to keep their other cat company, after losing an older one. He had various health problems, and then came down with what ended up being FIP. They did the same as you, relying on FB support groups for guidance and found a Chicago vet with some experience. After some very trying times, lots of injections and lost sleep, their little kitty seems to be almost completely past it - so it’s possible! If you want to connect with them for any advice or an ear, let me know. Hopefully Snoots responds well to treatment!
Oh my little snoopy. I’m crying so I don’t know what to write, other than that you’re a wonderful, loving caretaker to this strange, beautiful creature named Snoots. Give him a gentle squeeze and a nonsensical song from me ❤️❤️❤️ … he’ll know who sent it.
"Caring is how we save each other." Oh, Kelton.. this was so well written—I hope writing brings some amount of catharsis through this overwhelming time. Subscribed and sending love to you, Snoots and the rest of your little fam.
Thank you Chrissy! It's a weird thing to try to write well enough to capture the feeling, and wanting that writing to be good while also just wanting the cat to be good.
Holy Shit… as a fellow cat lover this was an easy nudge to upgrade to paid. Do all you can to save your baby, you’ve already done an incredible job being so in tuned to him ❤️

Aw I'm so sorry — we're so grateful Snoots has a shot. Gonna do whatever we can. <3

You’re just the best.

Thanks Peggy! Good vibes always help.

I'm so sorry, Kelli. It's just the worst. Looking forward to a future when this is just something a vet can treat.

He says thanks <3
Sending all my good wishes and prayers to you and Snoots.
I lost my Piglet to old age; she was with me for 18 years but even over three years later, I still look for her occasionally when I get ready for bed.
This is so well written. I was in the car, parking lot, bathroom with you. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
Thank you for reading! I bet those moments are when Piglet is looking at you. <3
C’mon baby Snoots, you can do it. 💙
Doing everything he can!
Wishing Snoots a full recovery!
So appreciated.
Thinking of Snoots and the rest of the household—holding you all. If there's anything a Canadian can do, please let me know <3
Appreciate that!

Upgraded to paid subscriber. Long overdue. Sending love to Snoots, and to his people and fur fam.
Oh Jo, that's so, so kind.
It feels weird to say I loved this piece, but I did. Thinking of Snoots and sending you love and strength! I'm glad he's got you in his corner.
