So feeling the urge to nest, thanks for this! And if that workshop were recorded, I would 100% sign up, just not available at that time this Saturday. xx
Ha, this piece is me in a nutshell. Except I'm living wirh my new husband in a condo and refuse to spend money on furniture, especially a couch.
Nesting is something I'm slowly working into. I'm 64 and this is a first marriage. Thankfully my husband is patient and understanding. He's normal. I am not. The last time I counted my moves it was somewhere near 47 times. This has never been addressed in therapy. I won't bring it up. One point that rang out in this piece was to act like I'm staying and not always leaving. Easier said than done. I'm practicing this to see how it feels.
On another note. The wardrobe link you shared: I loved it! Like watching dueling personalities trying to surface.
I wore a uniform tuxedo to work for the past 40 years and the only changes made were from stilettos to flats and false eyelashes to Revital Lash. I don't even know or understand what a casual wardrobe is supposed to look like. Luckily at this point it only matters on special occasions. This was a great piece. I absolutely loved it.
And I absolutely loved this comment! I love the idea too of just acting like you're doing something. Clearly what I was doing on a daily basis with my outfits hah! <3
I love this essay! As a chronic mover and also something of a trash goblin, this definitely resonated with me. The space you created looks so beautiful and energizing.
I am such a nester. Right now I'm making a nest within a nest, making a cozy little space in my unfinished basement that is like a beautiful cave I can go to feel held, supported and somehow less overwhelmed.
I have some follow-up questions about where you do your couch shopping, because I also think 300-400 is a perfectly reasonable price range. That's what I paid for my last couch too...
Great piece about building a nest. I'm someone who's also had to move around a lot. Recently I had family come visit me and point out that I had a carpentry project laying around up against my wall for more than a year. It was a new shelf for my snowboard. Every time I'd start work assembling it, a little voice in my head would remind me that I wouldn't be living here long. It's all temporary. Don't get too attached...
Ah okay, that answers that. I hadn't thought of cats. Furniture is really expensive, but I like the benefit analysis of it all. I did that with my mattress.
Ahhhhhh…I love the Tree House. You are a fabulous nester. I’m inspired. I’m so ready to nest in my girlfriend’s quirky home. She’s excited for me to do it. Win/win!
I love a good nest and a good story to read in it. Well done - I hope Barry reads these!

Aw thank you!

Yes, that "somehow less overwhelmed" it such a key factor to me. I want to walk in and go, "ah, yes, you're right - I'll be fine."

I had to go leather because of the cats so I went with Article, which I looooove. I love that couch.

That's the best when you're in on it together!
Fabulous as always Kelton! And don’t ya just love therapists? They don’t waste time sugarcoating the truth. They only have an hour lol.
Lol TRUE
