I hope you get a million gazillion heart-likes on this because whatever is going on with your brain fog or not, this is one of the most stellar set of thoughts about early pregnancy I have ever read. I look forward to many more of your musings as you continue this journey. Congrats!

Congratulations!!! Hoping you continue to have a healthy and easy rest of your pregnancy!

I was surprised by the athletic activities that did and didn’t work for me while pregnant. I skied the whole first trimester and then mountain biked until 37 weeks. Hiking was painful and climbing was off the table due to ligament pain. Try things, plan to take it super easy, and stop if it doesn’t feel right. You’ll know!

We struggled for years to get pregnant, ended up commuting to a fertility clinic in Denver. Even so, once I found out I was pregnant, there was still that feeling of "what the hell have we done?" LOL. It's a life change for sure, but now my kids are 9 and 11 and better skiers than me, so every time we are on the hill 13 miles north of you, it's pretty dang amazing. :) I bet you'll love it.

PS - the worst part about going to the place 71 miles north of you will be having contractions in the car! We ended up doing a home birth the 2nd time because I hated it so much! But I did find that doing hypnobabies (different that hypnobirthing) really helped me a ton to block out everything and breath through it during that car ride. Best of luck to you! And definitely get some skiing in this winter. :)

Ok going to have to do some serious googling on hypnobabies — sounds very up my alley.

Such joyful news! Congratulations Kelton!!! The brain fog is real, but it does go away eventually. And even with it, you can still do amazing things (my whole time at HS I had it, hoo boy). There are changes that last forever, but the brain fog isn't one of them. So happy for you and your growing family. It's the best thing ever.

Not into kids/babies (43 and never even held a baby -- vividly remember relatives offering me fifty dollars to hold a baby cousin when I was 10 or 11, which I _refused_, ha), however very happy for anyone who is, or is able to be for their own -- mazel tov!

I think I've held a baby once and hated it, so that'll be fun lol

YAY!!! CONGRATS TO YOU!! I also felt the same when having children. I wasn't ready until we had been married around 8 years. Then it wasn't as easy as we had hoped so at by the 10year mark we adopted and were immediately pregnant! Joke is on me! Our Irish twins are now 21 and almost 21. Best decision we ever made! So happy for you and your new adventure! Cheers!

Amazing - you're like the 4th person I know now who has this story in their family.

Aww, congratulations!! So happy for you Kelton. And I just adore the realness with which you describe everything. If you've been having brain fog, I just want to say that whatever part of you does the writing has this thing in hand. Will be wishing you all the best physically, the best care, the best luck with weather and timing and everything you need. May is a GREAT time to be born (says the Gemini born in May).

“the fetus isn’t outwardly visible and only acts as an energy siphon, like some kind of tiny amulet from another planet draining you of your powers” cackling.

I’m the same way about babies, I’m not a “baby person”, but I just can’t miss the experience of having one!

So excited for all the weird jokes you’re going to make about pregnancy and motherhood, and oh the baby too 🫶

Ok, I am very late to this, clearly (Momming is fucking awesome but time seems to get away from you). But I wanted to chime in and let you know that I felt the exact same way about pregnancy. Hell, I was 8 months pregnant and still questioning if I wanted to be a mom which also led to a ton of guilt. My little one is 9 months now and I freaking love being a mom, seeing my husband be a dad and witnessing our parents become grandparents. Stoked for you and Ben to get experience the ultimate form of heart expansion!
