Good luck Kelton! I think it's great you're taking a break from the weekly deadline of producing this newsletter. One of the best pieces of advice I got as a new mother was, "lower your expectations of what you can do in a day." Just the basic care of the baby and you is enough. Your readers will be here supporting you when you return.
I've been waiting for the newsletter with the big news, but this wasn't quite it! LOL. In a very small way, I feel like I've been along with you for this experience. Has it really been almost nine months? THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE!
Best of luck to you and Ben and maybe Bear and I look forward to hearing from you when you come back.
Your life is changing and is about to change even more. Such an exciting time for you.
When you are rocking and walking a teething baby in the middle of the night or when suddenly overnight your teenager seems to have become a stranger that no longer "likes" you, you will wonder what you have done and how you will get through it, but you will and you will do it well. Those words, 'enjoy every moment as they change so fast' are so very true. My baby is now 37. How did THAT happen?
xo
P.S. And when owies happen be sure to say, "Get up quick before it hurts." 😉
Just a quick note to say that I'm thinking about you & your family (human and otherwise) as your Big Day approaches . . . or may have even passed by now. It's finally Spring, glorious Spring, here in the mountains west of Boulder and, I hope, the same where you are (I think I can almost figure it out based on small clues you've dropped over time). So much new life! Selfishly, I can hardly wait to read your first musings, once you're feeling up to it again. In the meantime, you are missed and loved by many who know you only via our inboxes 🥰
Will say all your names from a summit in the Cascades this summer. I’m bringing a list of all who inspire, educate and amuse me, who I hold in my personal constellation. Like the lines between stars the ancients drew to conjure gods and beasts in the sky, you’re all with me all the time, whether visible or not. Part of my gorgeous galaxy now!
For everything so far, thank you! For what’s to come later on, AN-TI-CI-PATION! (Rocky Horror…)
Your writing has been a lovely part of my curated retirement life. I did all the things you are going through (except living so close to nature). I will continue to support this form of communication and community with you and I will be happy to have you back in my inbox when your life allows for it. Congratulations and good luck.
Someone wise once told a story about a phrase that really is just an expression of love and it’s stuck with me (“what’s your plan?”). Sounds like you got one. You got this!
So excited for the news! Another grandchild in the family - which means 7!!! My father would have been so excited to know there are so many boys in the family. Glad you are taking time off - well-deserved. It will be fun to see your first blog about life as a parent! I’m sure it will be honest and hilarious. BTW I think bears are good omens, except for getting fisted!
I wish you nothing but the best, Kelton. I don't even remember how I found Shagrilogs, but I'm so glad I did. It feels like I'm always on an adventure with you, Ben, and soon, baby "Bear."
Thank you so much for bringing us into your life--it is one that has been worth knowing about ever since I subscribed, and I can't wait to hear more from you when you get back! From this subscriber, having known friends who gave birth, just know if your plans change and you need more time with your little one, we will still be here. Sending so many good wishes you way.
Sending you all the good vibes! Take the time you need and we'll be here when you're ready to return. (But please update IG at least once so we can celebrate with you!)

To my fellow Loggers, I highly recommend going back through the archives and reading them in order!
