LOL. I would watch a reality show where you ask Ben hypothetical absurd questions while he works on wood projects and tries not to lose his mind. Esp if there are cat cameos.
I sent this to my partner because then end sounded like a million conversations we’ve had. He says he hopes you have a very long air hose for the nail gun to work against the zombies far from your house.
My husband appreciates Ben's commitment to fire safety. I read that whole passage aloud to him (when I wasn't laughing mid-sentence) because it sounds so much a conversation in our house (#imarriedanengineer 🤣)
This is my fantasy. I’d love to someday have a small wood workshop in the storage garage we built on our property. If he’s planning on doing any kind of online store would love to buy something.
Wow, what a story! We became violin makers after a life as musicians, so this read was exciting and resonated! Thanks for sharing, looking forward to reading more!
Of course I laughed out loud at the question/answer section. Nothing is as easy as it seems. So revealing as to how a mind works and makes forward progress a challenge - albeit a thoughtful challenge. Well done Kelton.
That’s awesome. When I moved into the smallest place I could find (in Kansas City that’s still 1000 sq ft) none of the furniture from my previously bigger than I needed house fit. I have friends that became woodworkers and have built me furniture piece by piece (as funds have been available) to fit in this small place. All of them have been built from locally reclaimed wood - walnut, hackberry and something else I’m forgetting. It’s so nice to have these unique pieces that will last!
The tie in from the first paragraph to the last was so lovely. And what a wonderful turn of events! I’m excited to see how the shop exploits develop and expand over time.
this is so very cool. very much looking forward to seeing his work when it’s up. woodworking seems so satisfying. it’s creative, but tangible in a way that a lot of creativity isn’t. my partner’s dad is a master carpenter, and he turned an old barn on this property he bought into a wood shop. he makes these incredible chairs (he has two patents on them!) and the wood is all steam bent. i’m always in awe when i see his shop.
Almost all of my most cherished gifts were made of wood by the hands of my dearest friends. A part of your soul goes with every piece, and the friend who receives it always has you close. Thanks for sharing.

I'd be the one losing my mind, oh my god.

Safe to say, I feel your pain.
Should have seen that coming from an air hose away. 🤦🏼♀️
Hahahahha
Such a generous piece and gift for Ben.

😂 there’s certainly a type, isn’t there?
One of my dear friends is a small-scale woodworker in the Ben vein! His name is Jean-Philippe, and he’s currently in wood school in Edinburgh.
The record cabinet on this page was his wedding gift to us! https://www.jclarkfurniture.com/gallery
Loving the continuation of Scottish vernacular, I see the influences but it's also very much his own thing.
Yay! Is there a place where Ben is selling online yet? I love reclaimed pieces!
Not for a few months, but y'all will be the first to know.

We'll get there! This'll be the first place to know certainly.
"Why am I running?"
To escape hypothetical interview questions, apparently. ;-D
Lol
Love this!

So excited to see what is made

Well you know you've got all of us rooting for you. Looking forward to all the craftsmanship from both of yous! Happy New Year!
