Absolutely beautiful, Kelton. Read this aloud in bed with my husband and our 11-year dog between us softly snoring. Moved us to tears. Thanks for opening our hearts this morning to full vulnerability and love. So happy for you and your growing family.

“You can”

And then I cried for how lucky this little dog is to have found y’all.

Welcome Jib!

Thank you. As my ex con junk yard rescue dog reaches his sunset, now going on 10 years with me I’m stunned that he might be the best and he might be the last. Mortality comes to us all. Id be a fool to get another as I’m facing my own sunset. Thank you for writing so well.

There are always senior dogs in need of homes. Just saying.

Karen, the funny thing is …he was a senior dog, that lasted another 10 years!

I cried. I cried when Finn told him the truth. The truth you already knew. My Weimaraner Ganesh is 14-1/2 and slower every day. I think a lot about what will come next. But I cannot imagine life without the joy of our animal companions!

Jib did not pick you. Cooper picked Jib for you, and what a perfect match it is. Picture Cooper now happy and able to enjoy his next adventures, knowing his family is once again complete!

We had a cat named Jasper who had many of the same nicknames as your Jib. He was the Best Cat. He had nothing but love for his people in his little cat heart. I will share his formal name with you to use if you'd like - Lord Jasperton McSnicklebritches, Jib/Jibby/JIbberton for short. Enjoy your little Jib. What a lucky doggie!

Life IS for loving. 💛 I'm glad the prophets accepted their new canine family member! Looking forward to getting to know this little buddy more through your writing. We adopted both our pups in the 9ish-month age range and IMHO it's such a sweet spot for training and acclimating!

I am crying for joy for you both and for Jib. He is sooooo cute, the perfect fit. I hope he helps heal your heart and he fills yours with joy. I do think dogs find you. I originally didn't pick Beau - there was another dog that I thought was "right" but my heart was drawn to Beau. When the other dog was already taken, I chose Beau - but he definitely chose me and captured my heart. Congratulations!

I felt like I was in the Jib's mind and body reading this... love the feeling. I'm still holding on to hope that one day we'll have a dog of my own... but I think a cat will be our first addition. Congratulations!

One more thing. Do you have a registry set up for the baby?
